"Local Chefs Team Up and Raise Funds to Feed the Hungry"

Los Gatos, June 3, 2004 .   Diane Rose, chef and owner of Crimson Restaurant hosted the second annual Chefs Bite Back event and raised more than $35,000 to feed the hungry.   All proceeds from the event, which had 15 local chefs and 22 area wineries, will benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.   Second Harvest's mission is to rally community resources to assist people who are hungry in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties.

Over 200 people filled the patio as the San Jose Jazz Society played and Los Gatos Mayor Steve Glickman welcomed all to the second annual event.   The emcee, local weatherman John Farley from NBC 11, brought with him the best weather possible and the beautiful afternoon contributed to a successful live auction.   Private dinners and winery tours were the hit of the live auction, which raised over $12,000 in less than twenty minutes.   The cash sponsors for the day's event included Janice Berthold of All West Insurance, JoMar Laboratories, Los Gatos Floatation Center, Blue Star Vending and Lory Hopkins.

Los Gatos/Silicon Valley Hummer dealer Ron Battistella was on hand and donated the use of a 2004 H2 Hummer for a weekend trip with a stay in Lake Tahoe.   From limos to Hummers, it was an auction meant for those who truly enjoy the good times with wonderful friends, exceptional food and exquisite wine.   "The excitement of being able to give back and help those in need was really felt here today in the camaraderie of the chefs and the attendees.   We cannot thank Diane Rose enough for hosting this in our city," said Mayor Glickman.

Local chefs included: Chef Mark Tabak, 71 St. Peter and Stratta Grill & Bar; Chef David McWilliams , AP Stumps; Chef Eric Tosh of Blake's Steakhouse, Eulipia and Valeriano's; Chef Diane Rose, Crimson; Chef Emile Mooser, Emile's; Chef Scott Cooper, Le Papillon; Chefs Jim Stump & Philippe Raynaud, Los Gatos Brewery; Chef David Kinch, Manresa; Chef Daniel Asi, Parsley, Sage, Rosemary & Thyme; Chef Ron Cohen, Plumed Horse; Chef Martha Duke, Siena Bistro; and Chef Gary Messick, Tapestry.
